YWCA Tri-County Area reopens for programming on Monday, July 6.

The Early Education Center, 315 King St., Pottstown, reopens with early education classes for infants/toddlers, preschool, and Early Head Start. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Registration for Pre-K Counts is open; classes start August 24. For information about early education programming, call 610-323-1888, ext. 209.

YW will offer a summer program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. “Friendships and Fun” will include STEAM enrichment, fitness activities, swimming instruction, creative expression, and games. For more information, contact Charneesha Queen at cqueen@ywcatricountyarea.org

YW is following state guidelines in reopening and in maintaining facilities. All teachers will wear masks and smocks.  A health and safety handbook outlining procedures and program changes will be available to all parents and guardians.

Youth Empowerment Programming will continue its online groups for girls in grades 4–12 throughout the summer. The summer schedule is:

  • Great Girls Today (grades 4-6): 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesdays
  • Girls Take the Lead, Pottsgrove High School (grades 9-12): 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesdays
  • Girls In Charge (grades 7-8): 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays
  • Girls Take the Lead, Pottstown High School (grades 9-12) 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesdays
  • Girls Take the Lead, Owen J. Roberts High School (grades 9-12): 1 to 2 p.m. Thursdays

Family Cooking Matters will offer two virtual, six-week sessions in healthy cooking for families of preschool age children. Session 1 – “Satisfying Summer Snacks” – will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays beginning July 14. Session 2 – “End the Dinnertime Dread!” – will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays beginning July 16. Families will spend time together preparing healthy meals and snacks, and moving to music and activities. Registration is available at tinyurl.com/YWfamilycooking

The Adult Education and Training Center  will continue its online classrooms for high school equivalency and English as a Second Language for the next several weeks. Registration is still open for all classes; the next 12-week high school equivalency session reopens Monday, July 6.

Adult students taking the HiSET high school equivalency test may now take the test at home; students must meet technology requirements for the home test. In-person HiSET testing reopens on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month at the Pottstown location, 724 N. Adams St. The first test session will be Friday, July 10.
