Student Focused, Unparalleled Education

Modernizing Our Approach –

The new school year is coming up quick! Our Early Education Center team maintains their focus on providing every student the best environment. It’s important for each student to learn and grow in a nurturing space.

Part of our commitment to excellence centers around the content in which we present to each student. S.T.E.A.M. education is an approach that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. This approach is used to guide students’ critical thinking and objective analysis. S.T.E.A.M. education blossoms in our classrooms. Our teachers bring S.T.E.A.M. to each classroom in an exciting, energetic way.

New this school year: S.T.E.A.M. Room!

Kathleen Seeley, Senior Director of Early Education, announces this week the creation of a S.T.E.A.M. room. It will be located on the second floor of our Early Education Center in Pottstown. The room will have shelving with materials to use in the classroom. The more materials for S.T.E.A.M. education, the more fun learning our kiddos get to participate in.

The goal is to have this room ready to go by the beginning of the school year on August 26th.

That’s not all that’s impressive at our EEC. Our experienced educators provide social and emotional enhancement, assessment on literacy, math, and nutrition, music classes, and physical education. On top of all of that, our staff practices Conscious Discipline every day in the classroom.

What is Conscious Discipline?

According to the curriculum’s website, “Conscious Discipline’s foundation of safety, connection, and problem-solving is leading a revolution of the heart as concepts initially applied in the classroom extend to every facet of one’s life.”

Each week the EEC team of teachers makes a commitment to using Conscious Discipline in their lesson plans. This week’s commitment:

‘I will remember to breathe first and respond second.’

As published by Mrs. Seeley in the Early Education Weekly Newsletter, the conscious discipline commitment is imperative for successful use of the social and emotional learning tool. She also created a commitment tree which is displayed in the front conference room at the EEC. Every morning, our teachers look at the tree and remember the commitment they’ve made for the week.

Our dedicated, compassionate teachers are excited for the school year to start. With a new S.T.E.A.M. education room and the continuation of Conscious Discipline curricula, our EEC can’t wait to welcome new students!

Enrollment is now open for the upcoming school year starting on August 26th. Learn more by contacting Kathleen Seeley, Senior Director of Early Education, at kseeley@ywcatricountyarea.org or 610-323-1888 ext. 209.
