The 2023 Tribute Nominations are Open!
We all know a woman who does it all. Someone that makes us wonder “Does she have more hours in the day than the rest of us?” or “How does she make it all happen”. We have all been asked, “What do you do?” and maybe some of us have thought “What don’t I do?”. We are students, teachers, caretakers, neighbors, friends, partners, daughters, change makers, and leaders. But often we feel the need to minimize our accomplishments, tone back who we are, define ourselves with one phrase, and fit into society’s boxes.
For far too long, society has confined women to boxes based on outdated stereotypes and biases, preventing many from realizing and discovering the unique leadership qualities women and girls contribute.
At YW3CA, we know that women can achieve remarkable success and positively impact every area of life, education, career, leadership, and beyond. We believe in breaking down the societal barriers that have hindered women’s progress by empowering them to reach their full potential.
We aim to inspire women and girls to reach beyond their imagination and pursue their dreams and full potential. Recognizing exceptional women and girls from diverse backgrounds and fields can empower more women to step into their power, make their voices heard, and achieve greatness in all areas of life.
Today’s girls are future leaders.
We share a vested interest in supporting their success. When young people take on leadership roles and advocate for their beliefs, they develop the skills and values to become engaged and committed adults. By recognizing the exceptional girls who stand out and speak up for social justice, we can inspire and empower the next generation of leaders.
As a community, it is essential that we celebrate and uplift young people who demonstrate a commitment to making a positive impact. We must encourage and support them in their efforts to effect meaningful change and create a more just and equitable society. Through our collective efforts, we can help ensure that today’s girls become the visionary and compassionate leaders of tomorrow.
This Year We are Making a Change!
At this year’s Tribute to Exceptional Women & Girls, we are breaking down boxes. We consciously removed award categories from the nomination process. By doing so, we are sending a clear message that we value and celebrate all aspects of women’s achievements and refuse to limit them to narrow definitions or expectations.
We invite nominations of exceptional women & girls making a positive impact in the community. YW3CA will honor five women and five girls with the Persimmon Paragon Award, recognizing those whose work aligns with our mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
