Dozens of women-owned businesses gathered on Saturday, April 27th to compete in YW3CA’s first annual Be BOLD Pitch Competition. The participants were selected to compete and had the opportunity to present their businesses to a panel of experienced judges.
After careful consideration, the judges awarded cash prizes to the top three businesses. The first-place winner, PS it’s Natural, received a grand prize of $7,500. In addition, the second-place winner Impressly Events LLC received $6,000, and the third-place winner, Science& received $5,000. Runner-up included Widoktadwen Center for Native Knowledge and Lady Liberty Salon & Spa.

First Place- PS It’s Natural
Donna Tomlin, a devoted mother, and licensed eligible clinical therapist, is transitioning into full-time entrepreneurship with her brand, PS It’s Natural. Inspired by her daughter’s journey and fueled by her passion for natural hair care, Donna founded PS It’s Natural to provide high-quality products for the entire family. With a focus on affordability and accessibility, her brand aims to promote self-care and confidence while celebrating natural beauty. Through her commitment to inclusivity and community engagement, Donna seeks to create a positive impact in the lives of her customers and foster a sense of empowerment through natural hair care.
Second Place- Impressley Events LLC
Impressly Events LLC stands as a beacon of excellence in event planning, dedicated to crafting sophisticated and flawless experiences for its clients. Led by Jazmin Foster, Founded by Tedra Butler and Kendra Oliver whose attention to detail ensures that every aspect of an event is executed flawlessly, the team combines creativity, precision, and empathy to exceed expectations. Kendra Oliver’s visionary approach brings forth unique and unforgettable event concepts, while Tedra Kirtz’s warm demeanor fosters trust and genuine connections with clients. Together, they form a powerhouse team committed to delivering personalized, stress-free event planning services that leave a lasting impression on clients and guests alike.
Third Place- Science &
Dr. Francesca Tuazon founded Science & to provide the support she wishes she had as a biracial woman getting her PhD in biomedical science. Science& is a nonprofit organization that empowers scientists from historically excluded groups with essential, but untaught, professional skills. Recognizing that diverse perspectives drive scientific discovery, Science& seeks to retain and advance diverse talent in research and leadership positions. Science& offers practical, engaging workshops that reflect Dr. Tuazon’s expertise in science research, community activism, and creative expression. Science& offers a groundbreaking approach to uplifting underrepresented scientists and is shaping a more inclusive and innovative future for scientific discovery.
